Buttermilk AND SOUR CREAM
Buttermilk or buttermilk is the liquid (waste) left on the preparation of butter (if you beat whipping cream until butter has already done its buttermilk).
It is little known in Brazil and is not found on sale in supermarkets. What prepared at home (see below) is liquid and slightly acid. The industrialized buttermilk is made by adding bacteria to milk. It is found on sale in supermarkets in the United States, its texture is very thick and its taste is sour.
In India it is common as a drink.
How to make at home?
Mix 1 tablespoon of lemon juice (or white vinegar) in a cup of milk and let sit for 15 minutes.
Sour Cream or sour cream, is whipping cream with the addition of lactic acid bacteria. Its flavor is sour and its firm texture. What prepared at home is similar to that found for sale.

How to make at home?
Mix 1 tablespoon of lemon into a cup of whipping cream and let sit for 30 minutes, store in refrigerator until use. You can also do a mixture of fresh cream, yogurt and lemon.
